Design Thinking - Beginner Urban Planner

Learn to analyze the NYC like a real urban designer. What is the difference between public and private spaces? Why public spaces are so important? The kids will learn to recognize NYC public spaces and the monuments that can mark them. Would NYC be the same without the Statute of Liberty? Does the Brooklyn Bridge have any other public purpose? The kids will create their own monuments in the carefully assigned parts of the city and present their work to the classmates. This class relies on the elements of STEAM education.

Design Thinking (DT) is an open-ended approach that connects other disciplines and allows us to introduce children to such different subjects as math, architecture, design, geography, climate, as well as a variety of cultural and social issues. The class fosters the ability to recognize complex patterns and creatively solve challenging problems

Workshop is for 5-8 year olds.
